• The 14th International Hydrocolloids Conference undertaken by us was held in Nanchang from May 21 to May 25, and more than 300 people from 22 countries and regions attended the conference.
  

The opening ceremony was held in Nanchang Wanda Pullman Hotel on May 22, and such persons attended the opening ceremony as Zhang Lina—Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of Wuhan University, Peng Linghua—Member of the Party Group of Jiangxi Association for Science and Technology and Vice Chairman, Professor Steve Cui—Chairman of the 14th IHC Academic Committee, Professor Graham Sworn—Chairman of Food Hydrophilic ColloidAssociation, and so on. Our President Zhou Chuangbing delivered a speech, and the opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Xie Mingyong—Chairman of Organizing Committee of the 14th IHC and Director of State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Technology of Nanchang University.

·  During the conference, 13 conference report experts and 13 specially-invited report experts made reports and exchanges in terms of the application and characteristic research of natural hydrophilic colloid, as well as the modification method, improved functions and novel application of natural hydrophilic colloid.

· IHC was established by Professor Glyn O. Phillips—Director of Glyndwr University and Phillips Hydrophilic Colloid Research Center in 1990, held biennially, aiming at further strengthening and boosting international hydrophilic colloid research, facilitating international academic exchange and cooperation in the field of hydrophilic colloid, and expanding the application of hydrophilic colloid in the field of technology. The holding of the conference has further boosted the development of international hydrophilic colloid research field and improved the international academic influence of our country and Nanchang University in that field.
